First Week Back at Work: Finding My Groove Again (Despite the Weather)

Published on 8 September 2024 at 14:40

This week marked my return to work after a much-needed break, and while it wasn’t without its challenges, overall, it turned out to be a good week. That said, as I sit here reflecting on everything, the weather is doing its best to dampen the mood—literally. It’s pouring rain outside, and it seems like the entire weekend has been this way. But strangely, there’s something calming about listening to the rain, even as it beats down against the windows.

My first day back started a bit rough. I had a panic attack in the afternoon that took me by surprise, and I ended up leaving work slightly early. It wasn’t the smooth start I had hoped for, but I knew I just needed to take a moment to regroup. Once I got past that initial bump in the road, the rest of the week flowed much more easily. I fell back into my work routine and slowly found my confidence again, which was a relief.

With the weekend here, and the rain continuing to fall, I decided to turn my attention to self-care. This morning was all about pampering myself. I started with a shave, followed by a nourishing hair mask and toner to give my hair some love. I even repainted my toenails, and honestly, it felt good to spend that time focusing on myself. It’s been a while since I indulged in a little self-care, and this weather seems like the perfect excuse to stay cozy indoors and unwind.

Now, I’ve shifted gears and am tackling one of my goals for the day—sending over paperwork to the university. If all goes well, I’ll be studying come October, which is something I’m excited about. It’s a nice feeling, taking steps toward the future, especially after balancing the ups and downs of the past week.

So while the rain continues to pour, it feels like a fitting backdrop to my weekend—a blend of reflection, self-care, and productivity. Here’s hoping that next week brings clearer skies, both literally and metaphorically!
