Welcome to My Everyday Shenanigans

Welcome to My Everyday Shenanigans, where life's little quirks and the journey to mental well-being takes centre stage.

This blog is all about celebrating the messy, beautiful, and sometimes downright absurd aspects of my daily life. From managing the rollercoaster of mental health to finding joy in the everyday hustle, this space is for anyone who's ever felt life's a bit of a circus - and that's okay!

Here, you'll find the highs and lows, the smiles and tears -everything that makes up this wonderfully unpredictable ride called life. Whether it's discovering new ways to take care of yourself, or sharing the amusing and relatable moments of my day-to-day life. My Everyday Shenanigans is here for a little inspiration and probably some what-not-to-do's.

So grab a cup of coffee (or whatever fuels your day), get comfy, and join me on this adventure. Let's embrace the chaos, laugh at the absurd, and support each other through the ups and downs. Because at the end of the day, we're all in this together - and we might as well have some fun along the way!

Here's to finding joy in the everyday shenanigans!

Our adventure in Scotland

MondayWe arrived in Edinburgh on Monday morning and headed straight to a friend’s for a much-needed catch up and lunch. It felt so good to just sit, chat, and ease into the trip. Afterwards, we made our way to our little Airbnb — a cosy home base for the week — and picked up some food bits on the way to see us through the next few days.

Time for change?

Today, I made a decision. Not a final one, maybe not even a long-term one — but a decision all the same. I've realised I need to reevaluate my career. I’ve spent so long doing a job I once loved, but now I find myself falling out of love with it. Not because of the students — they’re the reason I’ve kept going this long — but because of how some senior staff seem to think they can treat us.

The Night Before

Tomorrow is a day I’ve been both waiting for and dreading. I have an appointment to find out whether the abnormal cells they found are cancerous. Just typing that still feels surreal. It’s a sentence I never thought I’d write, and yet, here I am.

How other people make you feel — and why it matters

We rarely talk about it out loud, but how others make us feel shapes a huge part of how we move through life. A stranger’s smile can brighten an otherwise grey morning. A sharp comment from a friend can linger for days. Even subtle things - tone, body language, silence - can stay with us longer than we expect.

Navigating health struggles and seeking support

Since September 2024, my life has been marked by a series of ongoing health battles that have left me physically, mentally, and emotionally drained. What began as a possible diagnosis of gallstones and liver issues, with the added frustration of being placed on an 18-week waiting list for surgery, has now taken an even more exhausting turn. Just last week, I was told that I had been misdiagnosed, and now I must wait until mid-March to see if they can figure out what's really going on. The journey has been a long, painful process, and the uncertainty is one of the hardest parts of all of this.

Bristol Rugby

Yesterday was quite the adventure! We headed up to Bristol, expecting a straight forward 2-hour drive, but it turned into a 5-hour ordeal thanks to heavy traffic. Still, we were determined to make it in time for the Bristol Bears vs. Sale Sharks game. Unfortunately for the Bears, it was a brutal match—final score: Bears 0, Sharks 38. Ouch!

When life piles it on: Finding solace in small joys

It’s been one of those weeks. You know the type – where everything seems to pile up, and not in the good way. As I sit here reflecting on the last few days, I’m realising just how much has happened, and how important it is to find small moments of peace among the chaos.

Who doesn't love a snow day?

There’s something magical about waking up to a world transformed by snow. This morning, I opened my eyes to see the ground blanketed in white—pristine, quiet, and perfect. It’s the kind of sight that makes you pause for a moment, appreciating nature’s beauty.

Kittens!!

Life has a funny way of surprising us when we least expect it. One minute, we’re simply stopping by our local pub for a casual visit, and the next, we’re heading home with two tiny bundles of fur nestled in our arms. Who knew that a quick cuddle with two kittens found in the pub loft without mum, would lead us here—to late-night bottle feeds and full-on kitten parenthood?

Autumnal walk

There’s something special about autumn. The way the air shifts from the warmth of summer to the crisp, cool breeze of fall, bringing with it the scent of damp earth and the rustling of golden leaves. Today, I took a walk with my pup, and it was one of those moments where everything feels perfectly in tune with nature.

A journey through love, pain, and healing

When I was 18, like many my age, I dived into the world of online dating. It was an exciting yet unfamiliar space, full of possibilities but also uncertainties. I didn’t expect to find myself connecting with a 27-year-old man who lived about half an hour away. Our first date was at the cinema, and we instantly hit it off. The evening ended with me spending the night at his place. At the time, I decided to keep the relationship hidden from my family, fearing they wouldn’t approve due to the age gap. I thought I could handle it, but things soon spiralled in ways I hadn’t anticipated.
